Subject: product for body piercing industry
Date: Sunday, November 11, 2001 1:19 PM
Question: Gentlemen, I have a product for the body piercing industry. I have done a patent research. I have a provisional
patent. I have made several prototypes, and have had people try them. I have made the packaging. I do not know
where to go from here. I figure I should have a marketing agent, but don't know how to locate one. I am located
in Maryland and would be willing to travel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing
from you.
Sincerely, Mark
Hi Mark,
Your e-mail has been forwarded to me. I'll try to answer your questions.
You say you've done a patent search. Which kind? A professional search? An internet search? Or a real search at
a patent depository library? There is a lot of difference. Internet searches, for example, are very limited and
incomplete.
It is understandable that you want to go directly to marketing as soon as possible, but you have to accept the
fact that you don't have anything to sell yet. I understand you have prototypes and packaging, and that is all
very good.

Dear Clinton, Please forgive the late reply to your query to Nevada Inventors Association. Mostly my computer has
been down and I've been very busy. But I never ignore letters from inventors. They're too important not to be a
high priority. Question: I have several ideas that I believe would be very useful to many people. One of which
is an automobile engine that runs on compressed air, which it generates the air itself.

Tim,
Oliver Evans 1784. OK? Have you tried to go to your local schools or a University for information? Try it. You
might be surprised what you can learn about things like assembly lines.
You don't want to know about Henry Ford? Too bad. He's the one who made it work.

Subject: Money
Date: Saturday, July 27, 2002 8:23 PM
Question: I need information regarding how to raise money to patent novel inventions.
Chet,
Sorry, but your question is more apt to make you far more money than a patent if you can find the answer to that
one. I can't imagine an inventor NOT asking the same question. "Where is some free money?"
Unfortunately, asking someone to give you money for something that might happen in the future has to be the most
difficult fund raising efort imaginable. There are ways to raise money, of course -- selling something, an extra
job part time, buy and sell collectibles -- that sort of thing.
and to borrow money. to continue.

Subject: WebMail: First Phase

From Doug
Question: Now what do we do?
I and my girlfriend just went to one of these Invention Corporations today. The name of the company is Invention
Submission Corporation - supposedly all over North America and the 'western' world.
We took that first plunge - phase one - and have signed on the dotted line. I was very skeptical about this as
we sat through the meeting with this fella. He made himself sound very important - that he was pretty much running
the whole Corporation's business here in Canada.
As you have written... we were told our idea would probably have a good chance of coming to fruition. We were told
our idea was quite original and that it was not likely to have been thought of yet, in his estimation.
I'm afraid we may have fallen into a bit of a scam here and that is why I went searching on the internet for feedback.
Answer:
As you already found out, you have heen had.
Now as soon as you can, subscribe to the Inventors' Digest magazine. That magazine is very helpful in content,
plus it has much information, It is http://www.inventorsdigest.com or call 1-800-838-8808.
And there is the UIA/USA organization. http://www.uiausa.org
You can click on both of them from 'www.doncostar.com' or www.nevadainventors.org'. But be careful you don't spend
any more money until you have done a patentability search and copied several patents that are in your ballpark.
You must do that as a next thing to do. Just because you don't find your product on the market does not mean it
hasn't been invented by someone. If you can't do the search yourself, pay a professional patent searcher to do
it. But do it! You can do some preliminary searching of course, by going to the patent office website at http://www.uspto.gov
Subject: Licensing/Royalties
Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2002 8:37 PM
Dear Holly,
There are articles regarding Licensing and Royalties in the archives of the Inventors' Digest magazine. I think
they cost $2.00 for a copy. http://www.inventorsdigest.com
Any serious inventor should be a subscriber to that magazine. It is full of useful information.
Holly, you did not mention whether or not your invention is patented. You know you do not have any legal position
in court until you have a patent. Is it possible you have a product development company telling you they have a
manufacturer for your product?
Second Question: I just want to make sure I'm getting a good deal on royalties.
Sure, I don't blame you. But don't overlook the fact that the manufacturer must make a profit on your product before
you can get paid. If it isn't a win/win agreement, someone is going to be unhappy. I'm surprised your attorney
hasn't explained that to you. You do have an attorney representing you in the license negotiations, don't you?
Licensing agreements should never be undertaken by an amateur, but the fact that you're asking strangers to give
you advice about something this important indicates you are trying to do this yourself. Very risky Holly.
I'd be interested in knowing why you are certain some company wants to sign a license agreement with you. Do you
have a patent, or just and invention? Royalty rates are usually spelled out pretty clearly in the agreement. Does
your attorney agree with the terms that protect you?
I hope you're protected,

Try going on the web with a search for him on Google. I got about 300,000 hits for mood ring. There's an A J Cockrell
company that sells them I think. They may be able to help you. But there is a lot of information about mood rings
on Google search engine. Some where there is a path to Marvin Wernik. OK?
Will I do the search for you? No. Sorry.

Subject: One Billion "things"
Date: Monday, June 23, 2003 10:23 PM
I'm no mathmatician, so I can't verify this,
but I thought it was amusing. When a politician
talks about a thousand million = (billion) it means
something different than it does to a scientist.
1] A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
2] A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
3] A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
4] A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate Washington spends it.
